There's a point in ARC Raiders where you stop thinking of "movement" as a nice bonus and start treating it like your only real armour. If you're still learning the map and figuring out what's worth dragging home, it helps to keep a mental checklist of what you're chasing and why, and I've leaned on ARC Raiders Items more than once to stay focused when my stash goals change mid-week. The Snap Hook is the one piece of kit that genuinely rewires how you play, because it lets you choose when fights happen, where they happen, and whether they happen at all.

Where the Snap Hook actually shows up

I wasted time early on by "kind of" farming it. Don't do that. Queue an Electromagnetic Raid and aim for Dam Battlegrounds. When you drop, resist the urge to sprint into the loud middle of the map. Instead, make a beeline for the residential pockets around the outer rim. You're mainly after the blueprint, but the gadget itself can appear too, usually inside locked key rooms or sitting in those battered metal containers people love to skip. Open everything. Back porches, side sheds, the dull-looking boxes that feel like a trap. Half the time, the good stuff is in the spot you only check when you're being thorough.

Getting it out alive without losing your nerve

The moment you hear that "rare loot" sound, your brain starts doing maths. How far to extract. How many angles. Who's watching. My safest habit is simple: keep the Snap Hook parked in the Safe Pocket whenever it's not actively saving your life. Pair that with the Mark 3 Survivor Augment and you'll notice you play cleaner, because you're not panicking about one bad peek deleting your best tool. You still need to respect the raid, sure, but that sick feeling of "I can't risk anything" starts to fade.

Combat moves that make the Hook worth the grind

Once you've got the feel for it, the Hook turns messy fights into choices. First, take height fast. Rooflines, balconies, broken scaffolds. You'll win more resets just by being the guy who disappears upward. Second, use it to break line of sight, not to "escape" in a straight line. Grapple around a corner, change levels, then re-peek from a new angle. Third, if you're confident, grapple onto the big ARC machines. The top surfaces can put you in a weird little dead zone where their return fire isn't as clean, and your shots are. The hardest trick is the fall-save: jump, fire the Hook at a surface near ground level, then tap your aim input right before impact to cancel the drop. You'll mistime it. Everyone does. But when it clicks, you start taking routes other players don't even consider.

Making the Hook part of your routine

The Snap Hook isn't a "use it sometimes" gadget; it's something you build habits around, like reloading after every corner. Plan your looting path with vertical exits in mind, and don't wait until you're being chased to remember where the climb spots are.
